The final event: presenting results of the green grants of Pshav-Khevsureti and Gudamakari schools

With the support of the Caucasus Nature Foundation (CNF), the NOG Environment and Development has successfully implemented grants competition for schools in mountainous regions of Georgia within the framework of the project “Develop and implement Awareness Raising Program (ARP) for 2022”.

The goal of the Green Grants Awareness Program was to increase the local population’s knowledge about Pshav-Khevsureti National Park and Aragvi Protected Landscape and also, to present the special natural values of these areas.

Within the framework of the project teachers and students of Gudamakari, Shuapkho and Magharoskari schools prepared: a board game, educational video clip, comics and held eco-educational meetings with the local population.

Students presented their projects and planned their future activities. Speakers, invited to the final event, introduced young people the protected areas of Georgia, their values and basic principles of protection, as well as the cultural heritage of Gudamakari and Pshav-Khevsureti. A discussion was held during which the students asked questions and discussed topics relevant to them with the invited speakers.

The competition was implemented within the program “Enhancing financial sustainability of the Protected Areas system in Georgia “, financially supported by CNF, GEF, and UNDP.
