On December 20, 2022, the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources and Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy Committees discussed the joint thematic study “Challenges and Opportunities of Decarbonization in Georgia”.

The goal of the joint thematic research of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources and Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy Committees is to fulfill the obligations under the Paris Agreement, which requires the identification of existing challenges and the preparation of relevant recommendations at the legislative and institutional level.

Both governmental and non-governmental organizations, scientific centers, independent experts and international organizations are involved in the research.

A questionnaire developed by the research team was sent to each organization. Also, relevant information is requested from state agencies and municipalities.
